The question that all graduates are placed when they decide to enroll in Electronic Engineering course is: "What are the job opportunities that I offer this degree?". In reality no one is able to provide a precise answer. In fact, if one part is really easy to describe the ideal job for an electronic engineer, on the other you have the knowledge that in Italy the opportunity to find work this "ideal" are very low. Fortunately, the formation of an electrical engineer and allowing it to adapt easily to make also does not work exactly in line with its title.
Degree courses in electrical engineering, as it should be a preference for the design of so-called chips, which are the basis of modern electronics. The problem is that in our country the opportunity to work in this area are very few. To confirm this, just do a search on the Internet with the goal of discovering how many Italian companies that occupana of chip design. I assure you that the result will be very eloquent! In fact in recent years he has established the model so-called "fabless" company that designs integrated circuits must not necessarily deal with large investments to acquire the entire structure needed for the production of the same, but may instead delegate the manufacturing to third parties. From this point of view, Italy is to be strongly delayed ( this is discussed in another post ).
However, it should be pointed out that in addition to chip design, an electrical engineer can design systems. The electronic boards (board) that are now inside all of our appliances are typical examples of systems. More correctly, we often refer to these solutions with the words "embedded systems". In fact, it is about designing of embedded systems that is based most Italian electronics. Of course, this area is so wide that it is extremely difficult to think of specific university courses to be included in the curricula. The embedded system design into reality requires a good part of the whole formation of an electrical engineer. However, perhaps it would be worthwhile to review the curriculum with a view to provide future engineering skills more suited to actual needs of the Italian market.
